Another day, another instance of dansup doing something wildly irresponsible and taking no accountability!
@aroacemagicalnerd has said it many times, if people would take action decisively and swiftly against instances of racism (he's been appropriating AAVE for years) they would have SO much less bullshit to deal with.
In a healthier and more antiracist fediverse, someone like dansup would never have been so many people engaging with, using, or funding his projects.
And yet, here we are. With his laundry list of reckless bullshit, from attacking everyone who criticizes him to making posts, deleting them, and then lying about them, and even writing absurd and unacceptable privacy policies for his projects. And this is just scratching the surface!
Listening to Black folks, moderating racism, centering the most marginalized....it really isn't just what's best for us. It's best for everyone.

@tillshadeisgone i mean ... this is the behaviour you expect from your four year old when their sibling grabs their toys or something ... it's a tantrum. except tantrums from adult-appearing white men are toxic and harmful. at this point, why do even bother to speak about this stuff? no one listens anyway ... right?

@fyrfli @tillshadeisgone @aroacemagicalnerd I'm not a fan of talking about it in a way that leaves us (the people who see a racism problem) frustrated and them (the people who don't see a problem) unmoved or still unaware. But I do value reading it (occasionally) when we remind each other that the problem still is there, that it is possible to do better, and some people are doing better.

Appropriators like him are always so transparent and so fucking obvious with how they never take the time to truly engage with and understand the cultures they try to mimick. He's like a stereotype of a white gay who always says that he has a Black woman inside him like damn we're really checking all the boxes huh?

@bright_helpings @tillshadeisgone I'm with you, also, I am not sure I want to hear the "diss track," but I want someone to find it and post it so you (Eva) can tear it to shreds. According to people who did listen, or tried, it was unlistenable, he's basically a cartoon villain at this point. But I want the "review" of that (ahem)... "song."
