Something that just tickled my brain-I was just having a conversation about tiktok censorship and how it's led to so many workarounds/euphemisms/etc as people try to evade algorithmic suppression and how I'll bet some social scientists would have a field day studying the impact this has had on our societal lexicon.

I also had a brainwave bc an account that I used to follow on Tiktok was dedicated solely to "desire paths" and the design/engineering that either works against or with them.

Edit: OMG I FORGOT TO CONNECT THE TWO THOUGHTS CUZ I GOT INTERRUPTED BY A STUDENT but these feel like the same idea showing up differently. Human ingenuity is so interesting to me!

This has been ~interdisciplinary thoughts with eva~

-Unalive or unalived
-Seggs
-yt, wypipo, any variation of that (and there have been so many bc of white supremacy)
-k*ll or d*ad I've seen a lot

There's so many examples. Social media censorship has forced a lot of creative linguistic adaptations. I also think it's fucked up, though, because it renders certain topics such as sexuality so taboo. But that's a whole other post

@tillshadeisgone lately I've also seen all topics surrounding Palestine being censored (unless they're pro-Israel in which case the algorithm lets them be). Hamas as hummus, using the watermelon emoji to show support for Palestine without being censored, etc. Like not only are they encouraging self-censorship on all topics relating to death or sex, but they fully pick sides

@raphaelmorgan it's so funny that you mention that because this conversation I was having was ABOUT the watermelon/Palestine thing
